If you are having troubles connecting to your network, it is possible that there is a problem with your network adapter. A network adapter is a network hardware component that provides an interface between a computer and a network. To fix a network adapter problem, refer to the instructions below: OPTION 1: Run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter The Network Adapter troubleshooter automatically finds and fixes some network adapter problems. This troubleshooter will disable and re-enable the adapter and try some other common repairs. To run the Network Adapter troubleshooter, follow the steps below: STEP 1: Point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. NOTE: If you are using a tablet or a touch screen, swipe in from the right side of the screen, then tap Search.

STEP 2: Enter 'network connections' in the search box, then click Settings. STEP 3: Click View network connections, then right-click the network adapter, and then click Disable. NOTE: If you are using a tablet or a touch screen, press and hold, then tap Disable. STEP 4: Right-click the network adapter, and then click Enable. NOTE: If you are using a tablet or a touch screen, press and hold, then tap Enable.

STEP 5: Try connecting to the network again, or run the Network troubleshooter to verify that your network adapter is now working properly. OPTION 4: Update the Network Adapter Driver NOTE: Make sure you are logged in as administrator before you proceed with the steps below. If the Network troubleshooter did not find and fix the problem, update the network adapter’s driver.

NOTE: Read and accept the license terms, and then click Finish if the update requires it. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. STEP 5: Once the update is completed, restart the computer, and then try reconnecting to the network. If the same problem persists, proceed to the next option. If you were not able to update the driver using Windows Update, try using the Device Manager.

Each time we’ve done the Windows10 full refresh on a Surface Pro 3 (including an instance yesterday where we downloaded and installed the system image direct from Microsoft same-day, full restore) the drivers for the Ethernet Port on the Surface dock is not included in the distribution / refresh (comparing drivers in use and located in sys32 on a tablet that is working as expected). If it ended there, and they simply needed to download once wifi was setup, that’d be great, but Device Manager shows no bang; no Surface Ethernet Adapter at all. Using the same dock, we can swap tablets out for ones that have not been refreshed (only updated), and the Ethernet port appears and works without fail, so we know it is something with the tablet itself.

In attempting to force install the driver and device, I was unable to get Win10 to display any models of network adapter when pointing at the INFs you provided. Do you have any other suggestions on how to add this network adapter after the fact, or do we need to plan to wipe the device and re-imaging with the files provided added to the USB system image, and cross our fingers that it will recognize another piece of hardware exists when we dock it?

Any help or direction you can provide is greatly appreciated. I have just attempted to update a SP4 running Anniversary Update (Driver ver. 10.2.504.216) with the latest Surface Driver and Firmware update MSI and the Surface Ethernet Adapter is NOT included in the MSI installation media.

It updated a bunch of other firmware and drivers, but not the Surface Ethernet Adapter. I have checked back on previous versions of the MSI and I cannot find the specified msux64w10.inf or msux64w10.sys files. Is the only way to get the updated driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog? If so, that is also out of date.

The latest version I have installed on my SP4 running AU is 10.3.1115.2016 (from Windows Update) The latest version available from the Microsoft Update Catalog is: 10.2.701.2016 We would like to update the build with the latest driver, but some consistency would be nice. While I know this is a year oldwould be great if one could update to include the newerer model 1821 as i’ve found many that have the same issue as me where they ordered more adapters and the new ones dont work but old ones do.

I’m hoping once i include this new version that it doesn’t break the old one. I’m guessing I need to remove the old one from my SCCM deployment before adding the new one? Also I am coming from a Win 8.1 SP3 trying to image it to Win 10 so which driver do I need, the OS it current has or the OS I want to go to?
